Ulster Independent Clinic

The Ulster Independent Clinic was opened in 1979 on a site in Belfast some 3 miles south of the city centre. The Clinic set new standards for independent healthcare and private facilities not available elsewhere in the Province at that time. The success and growing reputation of the hospital necessitated expansion in 1987 and an upgrading of the X-Ray department in 1992. In 1999 a new Theatre Suite, comprising 3 Operating Theatres, Recovery Ward, Sterilization Department, Surgical Stores and additional car parking was opened.

Currently the hospital has 48 patient beds, 15 of which are used primarily by day patients. There are approximately 120 medical consultants who admit patients to the hospital and another 150, including anaesthetists, radiologists and other specialists who regularly use the facility. Thus the hospital is able to provide a comprehensive range of services, covering most specialties, except certain services only provided at regional level. There is on-site 24 hour medical care provided by full time Resident Medical Officers.

Patient care is a team effort in the hospital, involving experienced registered professionals, ancillary and admistrative staff, all striving to deliver quality care to patients.
